[edit] Eirtakon Report by I_forget
Saturday
I arrived at around 2pm, paid my fee of €8 and got a free black t-shirt with a green Eirtakon symbol and a little guide book which said what anime would be showing where and when and gave a plot summary of each. I also got a free catalogue for the shop, Anime online.
I first walked around the 3 screening rooms then into the main hall where there was a Nintendo Wii which was in use the whole day with a Wii sports tournament at 6pm. There were couches around the place and a table to buy and sell any anime, manga, games and merchandise in the main hall.
I managed to sell almost all the stuff I brought and there was plenty of stuff on sale. At 3pm there was a Gothic Lolita fashion show with about 6 entrants then at 4pm there was the cosplay competition with about 10 contestants. The winners were a girl dressed as Edward Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist and a guy dressed as Alphonse who wore a big cardboard suit of armour which took 8 months to make. In second place there was a Tifa from Final Fantasy VII cosplayer.
I hung around then till about 6:20 and while I was at the convention I talked to loads of people who were all really friendly. Towards the end of the day someone bought loads of different flavoured pocky from the oriental emporium and sold it to everyone at the convention.
Sunday
I arrived at about 2pm and went to the main hall. There were less people there than on Saturday but there was still a good buzz and a good few cosplayers.
Everyone got 5 tickets to a free raffle and at the ending ceremony the prizes were given. They included wall scrolls, post-its and other merchandise and the winners of the cosplay competition got big prizes like dvds and a voucher for forbidden planet.
The staff thanked everyone at the ceremony and promised there would be traders next year, the ones this year hadn’t turned up because of a mistake in communications. Then it was announced that AMV Hell 3 was showing in the screening room and pretty much everyone went up to see it along with Evangelion ReDeath.
P.S. Thanks to all the staff, the cosplay prizes were great and thanks to everyone who minded my stuff at the barter table.
